| This 12’ Prototype Power Catamaran was envisioned and constructed over two summers. The boat was designed to be small, fast, and enjoyable (thrilling, a boater of my spirit might interject) to drive. The 12’ prototype version was powered with an outboard, but the boat was also designed to handle twin jets (such as SeaDoo’s twin jet, but before they came out with their v-hull version of this idea. It seemed very fitting for a small
catamaran to use two lightweight jet drives. SeaDoo and Yamaha power plants were considered) As tested. with far less power than the jets would provide, the hull delivered 37.5 mph, with only a 35 hp. outboard. The hull could handle more power, and it is estimated that 50 mph in the straight away would not be unreasonable. Take a look at the construction
of this cat, or check out some pictures taken during testing.[ B u i l d i n g | | T e s t i n g ] |
